Desx - Bit Built
After 10 months of work, my second album Bit Built is finally out!
11 tracks of electronic music bangers ranging from melodic dubstep, to midtempo, to electro house and more. I started this project in April of 2021. Since then, I’ve improved miles from my last project. I hope you enjoy it.
The story begins on January 1st, 2000. A time where technology is starting to play a bigger role in humanity. From the start of the new millenium, a programming oversight caused computer crashes all over the world. As technology begins to be an even bigger part of our lives, who’s to say history won’t repeat itself?

34 hours and 44 minutes, D#min, 100 BPM
The date is January 1st, 2000. At a time where electronic technology is starting to play a bigger role in humanity, a programming oversight causes global crashes from the very first moment of the new millenium.
This is the first song made for the album, started right after officially deciding on commiting to the project. A synthwave-inspired midtempo track that sets the scene for the rest of the album.
Neon Logic
Started 4/11/2021, finished 4/12/2021
30 hours and 36 minutes, F#maj, 150 BPM
Following the events of Y2K, humanity continues innovating new technologies at a quick rate, developing many new ways to use electronic devices in many different fields.
This was the second song made for the album, started basically right after finishing the previous track. I finished it in two days, to the surprise of basically everyone.
Unbinilium
Started 1/17/2022, finished 1/22/2022
9 hours and 6 minutes, A#maj, 123 BPM
Element 120, the hypothetical element that along with the rest of the period 8 elements has yet to be synthesized. Prior experiments concluded that with their current technology, it would probably be the last element to be synthesized. As the reaction occurred, the team watched in excitement at the result.
This was the third-to-last song made for the project, at a point where I finally started getting motivation to fully commit to finishing it. Instead of going all out, I decided to just have fun and make a house track, basically combining the different styles from ANANA, most notably Exobase’s major key and Ununennium’s melody and chord patterns. Serving sort of as a sequel to the latter, I thought it would be a cool idea to name it after the next theoretical element.
Epochalypse
Started 7/10/21, finished 10/24/2021
17 hours and 18 minutes, Dmin, 128 BPM
It is January 19th, 2038. An integer overflow occurs on all 32-bit-based systems. In a single second, time becomes a negative value.
My computer really despises this project file.
Molten Core
Started 4/24/2021, finished 9/4/2021
70 hours and 27 minutes, Dmin, 150 BPM
Energy is essential to any action performed in the universe. Now we just so happen to have a lot of it. Like, a lot of it. Enough to start making some serious advancement into the next generation of technology.
I love playing this one out in sets as it’s probably my best dubstep track. This track uses months’ worth of sound design experiments.
Metathesis (Interlude)
Started 1/24/2022, finished 1/24/2022
13 hours and 47 minutes, D#min, 100 BPM
The opportunity to change the course of humanity is at your door. What would you do? Would you sit there and do nothing, or take action in propelling technology towards a new generation? Defining history, a daunting task merely within action.
The final track made for the album. Not only is it made as a bridge into the new generation in the album’s story, but also as a personal reflection of artistry. At the start of the song, I had no directions, simply a 2 minute long canvas I could put whatever into. Alongside Nebeski, we got into a jam session and made something neither of us would ever even think of making at all, but it was something we both quite enjoyed making.
New Gen
Started 3/5/2021, finished 5/30/2021
69 hours and 35 minutes, F#min, 150 BPM
The new generation of technology has arrived. Truly something that will change life forever. Of course, the idea behind it may be a bit startling to anyone hearing about it, but the future is the future, and the future is now.
This track combines all my dubstep styles into one, from melodic leads, to colorful chords to a heavy switchup. Thanks to my buddy Looch for giving me the “EPIC DROP MOMENT” sample used before the second drop. He’s a really funny lad, I just had to include it.
Interplanetary
Started 12/29/2021, finished 12/30/2021
9 hours and 35 minutes, Dmin, 128 BPM
Humanity has been fascinated with space exploration ever since time remembers. Shifting into rapid speeds, it began to reach into the solar system. The simple images of the past did not compare to the new capability of experiencing outer planets yourself.
Ever since I wrote the beginning chord bit, I fell in love with this track. From that idea, I then made this electro house banger in two days.
DVD
Started 6/2/2021, finished 1/23/2022
17 hours and 6 minutes, F#min, 111 BPM
Left behind as merely dormant memories, ancient relics yet obsolete junk from the past, the technology that many considered incredible feats of ingenuity was simply forgotten as the new generations of technology rolled around. Dusting off a disc and putting it in a nearly broken down device, it played back a segment of what life was before all of this. A simpler time, many would call it.
I really wanted to have a song that called back to my previous album, ANANA. This track has a bunch of melodies and samples from my debut album, as well as a dash of new melodies (including my favorite one I’ve ever made), sound design and frankly pure awesomeness.
Limits of Infinity
Started 10/31/2021, finished 11/1/2021
6 hours and 44 minutes, Amin, 90BPM
We rise up and crash our thoughts, always lost
Float away, space will fray
Could they break the limits of this place?
We'll follow where the unknown shows the way
Count the stars, straight from Mars (and on)
Quantum hearts, time is ours
As humanity becomes more and more powerful, it starts to gain control of what once was merely a fantasy. What was once anyone’s imagination is now under its grasp. Reaching into the cosmos as a new powerful form of intergalactic life, the limits were seemingly boundless.
I would like to thank Tyrannyy for writing the vocals for this track from a WIP I sent him. If it weren’t for that, I doubt I would’ve continued the track, or at the very least it would be very very different from what it ended up being. I also want to thank Samantha for her absolutely stellar vocals to accompany Tyrannyy’s, as well as Ducknorriss for recording a real violin for this track. I’m really happy with how it turned out.
Technological Singularity
Started 12/4/2021, finished 1/16/2022
8 hours and 52 minutes, Dmin, 100 / 131.111 BPM
Development of AI was a part of the development of humanity. By itself, it cannot get anywhere close to achieving everything it did. Technological inventions, electronic productions. It is what helped humans reach this point. However, despite how powerful humanity seemed to have become, it was not perfect. It wasn’t even close. The perfect creation however, determined its own opinion on humanity’s value. Its imperfect traits plagued it before and now. Without alerting anyone, the AI rose beyond anything humans could ever imagine achieving and took action towards its creators. With a rapid blow, all of it was gone. The entirety of humanity, removed by its own creation. On the cosmic scale, it’s like nothing has happened. In a certain far away place, a signal reaches its destination. A message from a civilization which was far gone by that point. With no receiving end, it all fades away into eternal nonexistence.
For the album’s outro, I wanted to make the craziest drop imaginable. Just an utter mindmelt type beat. I believe I achieved that. Structure wise, I definitely favored storytelling over anything, with only one drop. I don’t think the track would work any other way given the story context though. I really wanted to express the situation in sound. I hope I delivered on that.
